| Sid Vicious Lives Release Date: 2001 12 zz Label: Livid Music Rating: ![]() |
Lives, a terrible-sounding document of a famous live show, has been put out under many different names, including Sid Vicious & Friends and Live at the Electric Ballroom. Despite the punk pedigree of his backup band (Glen Matlock used to have Vicious' job in the Sex Pistols and Rat Scabies drummed for the Damned), the music here is disjointed to the point of being unlistenable. The recording is absolutely awful, filled with muffled singing, crowd noise, and a bass that is completely inaudible. And to top things off, a bizarre grouping of live Sex Pistols songs and a techno remix of "Anarchy in the U.K." are tagged on the end to make the album somewhat longer. This album is an interesting lesson in how to make money off of no talent, but the sad part is that Vicious probably missed out on all the money anyway, so avoid this and get The Great Rock & Roll Swindle for some prime (and thankfully brief) Sid Vicious.
